Welcome to Michael's Tinkerings

A blog about taking things apart, figuring out how they work, and occasionally putting them back together better than before.

What You'll Find Here

I write about the things I'm genuinely curious about: mini PC reviews with real benchmarks (not sponsored fluff), home networking deep dives, Linux on everything, security assessments, and whatever project happens to have my attention that week. If it involves hardware, software, or the intersection of both, it'll probably show up here eventually.

No Algorithms, No Spin

This is an independent site. Some hardware is purchased, some is sent for review, but the outcome is always the same: honest results, not marketing copy. No review is influenced by how a unit ended up on my desk. New posts go straight to your inbox if you subscribe.

Who Am I?

I'm Michael. I cut my teeth as a systems administrator at a S&P 500 company before moving to a hyperscaler, where I eventually lead a hardware validation team. I spend my days putting infrastructure through its paces at scale, and my evenings doing the same thing at home, just with smaller hardware and fewer spreadsheets.
